Reading II - Fluency for Rising Readers (HCA)

Our Reading II: Fluency for Rising Readers course is designed to build upon the foundation established in Reading I, further developing students’ reading fluency, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. This course helps young readers gain confidence and accuracy while deepening their understanding of texts through fun, engaging lessons.

Key Features:

• Phonics & Fluency: Reinforcing decoding strategies to read with speed, accuracy, and expression.

• Vocabulary Development: Expanding word knowledge to support both reading and verbal expression.

• Comprehension Practice: Strengthening the ability to make predictions, draw inferences, and understand story elements.

• Interactive Learning: Group reading, independent practice, and games keep learning lively and enjoyable.

Our curriculum strikes the right balance between challenge and encouragement, helping students grow into confident, capable readers.

Class Structure:

• Small Group Setting: Allows for personalized instruction and peer collaboration.

• Certified Instructor: Taught by an experienced elementary teacher with expertise in early literacy.

By the end of this course, students will show marked improvement in fluency and comprehension—and continue building a love for reading that will benefit them for years to come.

Placement Guidelines:

• Returning AlphaMinds Students: This class is recommended for students who completed Reading I-B during the previous school year.
