This is an Introduction to Geometry course (Geometry - Part I)
This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to solve (prove) properties of geometric figures.
Topics covered in this course:
Points, lines, planes and angles. Definitions and Postulates
Angles. Parallel lines and planes
Congruent triangles (Corresponding parts in a congruence, SSS,SAS,ASA, AAS congruence)
Perimeter and area
Similar polygons. Ratio, proportion, and similarity. Similar triangles
Right triangles. The Pythagorean theorem
Quadrilaterals, Parallelograms, Special quadrilaterals
* Returning Students: This class is recommended to students who have successfully completed our Math MS I classes or higher
**New Students: This class is recommended for students in grades 7-10 who are new to AlphaMinds Academy and have completed a Pre-Algebra course. To determine which class your child should enroll into, we recommend taking our assessment test (please email us to request it sent to you)
